One day, while washing his sash in the East Sea, the vibrations disturbed the palace of the Dragon King. The Dragon King sent his son, Ao Bing, to stop him, but the impulsive Nezha accidentally killed the prince in the ensuing battle. To appease the enraged Dragon Kings and save his parents from their wrathful floods, Nezha committed a ritual sacrifice, returning his flesh to his mother and his bones to his father. Seeing his noble sacrifice, his master Taiyi Zhenren resurrected Nezha using lotus roots for a body. Reborn as a deity with the Wind Fire Wheels and the Fire-Tipped Spear, Nezha became a powerful protector of the innocent and a symbol of defiance against unjust fate.
